Publicising books is very similar to promoting films and television programmes. It involves a lot of liaison with the author and developing a successful working relationship, where you build trust and care.
PardellPR was briefed by the Head of Communications at Harper Collins to launch Redemption Song, the definitive biography of the late great Joe Strummer of The Clash. Author Chris Salewicz has documented popular culture for over three decades, in print and on television and radio.
A features writer with the NME from 1974-1981, his writing on a wide variety of subjects, has subsequently appeared in national newspapers, magazines and countless publications worldwide.
Action:
PardellPR arranged a series of interviews for Chris Salewicz, in music magazines, national newspapers and on radio.
We also organised the book launch at a venue in Notting Hill which was attended by masses of people, including journalists and famous friends of Chris.
We were aware that reviews of the book were crucial to the success of the book and worked especially hard on getting reviews in outlets such as music magazines, that would be read by fans of Joe Strummer and the band. We also achieved book reviews in a highly competitive market in the national newspapers, including the Sunday Times, The Times, The Guardian and the Daily Telegraph.
Result:
The book became a non-fiction best seller and the author and publishers were delighted with the results.
